Don’t Wing It!

When it comes to baking, it can be all too tempting to take a guess when weighing out your ingredients and hope for the best.

But this can be a recipe for disaster- literally. Even being a little bit out can have a detrimental impact on both the flavour and consistency. So make sure you get it right and weigh all your ingredients out carefully!

The Best Butter

Want to know the secret to the better baking? It’s choosing the right butter! Low fat spreads and butters tend to have a higher water content, and this can act like glue, binding layers together and giving rise to a tougher dough or pastry – which is definitely not the result you want.

That’s why it’s important to opt for a butter with a high fat content. It might not be the best thing for your waistline, but it will definitely make for some better bakes!

Don’t Rush It

Baking shouldn’t be rushed, after all, it’s supposed to be fun. With this in mind if you’re short on time, it’s best to leave the baking until another day.

Race against the clock and you will be more likely to make mistakes too, so make sure you’ve got time on your side and avoid disappointment!

Don’t Chill Your Eggs

Ok, so everyone knows it’s best to bring butter to room temperature before attempting to bake with it. But did you know that the same can be said for eggs too. If you use cold eggs, chances are the mixture won’t emulsify properly, resulting in denser cakes and bakes! So make sure to take you eggs out of the fridge for a while before you add them to your mixing bowl.
